Ralph D. Woop

2015

An emotional work with a muted visual language and a heavy atmosphere. The composition speaks of inner strain less loudly than resonantly. The characteristic blue creates distance and calm; the image appears less as a mere depiction than as the trace of a past scene. The work deliberately leaves room for ambiguity and shifts the boundary between motif, sign and inner image.
